"Mind the Gap" - Thank you, Goodnight.

When you go to one of your favourite bands' live shows, there’s a completely different atmosphere to when one of their songs come on in a club. Yes, you will probably get a bit giddy and dance a bit weirder than you would to any other song, but it doesn’t compare to the ultimate fan-girling; cacophonously screaming every word to every song you know, does it?
With that description in mind, you can imagine how I felt when I saw one of my current favourite bands, Slaves, perform at the O2 Academy in Shepherds Bush a couple of weeks ago… I completely, well and truly 100% lost my s**t.
From a biased perspective, I would say “you don’t know who Slaves are?” but I understand everyone’s music taste can be different, and if you aren’t necessarily into your inner punk-rock, then my best bet is maybe you haven’t heard of them.
So who are Slaves? They are made up of the utterly divine musical duo – Laurie Vincent amd Isaac Holman, creating music that has previously been described as British punk with a mix of harsh garage riffs.
If you aren’t sure, click here to listen to YouTube’s BBC 1 Radio Live lounge and see if you recognise their cover of Shutdown by Skepta.
After one EP and two released albums (Take Control & Are You Satisfied?), the boys have made a cracking success by making it to main stage at Reading Festival this year and a separate ‘secret set’ on the BBC Introducing stage on the same day.
The dynamic duo continues to create a solid fan-base and win over critics with their cynical and edgy lyrics, and their infectious energy on stage that can only be described as intimidating and entertaining in equal measures.

Their 2016 tour has sadly now come to the end, with two sell-out shows and performances in 16 cities, it’s only right to clutch onto the edge of your (well… my) seat in anticipation for what’s to come in 2017!
